Dr. Gorrette Nalwadda
Founder & Director, Luziibangi International Health School (LIHS)
Dr. Gorrette Nalwadda is the visionary founder of LIHS and the Luziibangi Foundation. With a rich academic background and extensive professional experience, she has dedicated her career to advancing public health and nursing education.
- Qualifications: PhD in Public Health and International Health from Karolinska Institutet, Sweden; Fellowship in Bioethics and Research Ethics from Johns Hopkins University; MSc in Reproductive Health & Population Studies from Makerere University; Postdoctoral research in Maternal and Child Health from Trinity College Dublin.
- Expertise: Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (SRMNCAH); Family Planning (FP); Public & International Health; Immunization; Infection Prevention & Control; WASH; Nutrition; HIV; Digital Health; Research Ethics.
- Experience: 24 years of service in research, policy, and program management in SRMNCAH and training nurses and midwives at all academic levels (diploma to PhD).
Dr. Nalwadda’s leadership ensures that LIHS remains at the forefront of nursing and midwifery education in Uganda and beyond.
Mrs. Jean Namatovu Kizito
Principal, Luziibangi International Health School (LIHS)
With a passion for teaching and healthcare, Mrs. Jean Namatovu Kizito is an accomplished nurse with a wealth of experience across various nursing disciplines.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Post Graduate Diploma in Health Services Management and Administration (Uganda Management Institute); PGD in Medical Education (Health Tutors College, Mulago).
- Experience: An efficient and passionate nurse with extensive experience in delivering top-notch patient care. She is highly skilled in using advanced medical equipment and thrives in both independent and team-based work environments.
- Philosophy: Dedicated to ensuring that students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their nursing careers, Mrs. Kizito takes great pride in helping future healthcare professionals grow and succeed.
Mrs. Nakitto Barbara Mukasa
Deputy Principal, Luziibangi International Health School (LIHS)
Mrs. Nakitto Barbara Mukasa is a dynamic and forward-thinking nurse-midwife with exceptional organizational and leadership skills. She brings a wealth of academic excellence and practical experience to her role.
- Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Nursing (Midwifery & Women’s Health) from Makerere University; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (First-Class Honors) from Aga Khan University; Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery from Mulago Nursing Training School.
- Experience: A highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse-midwife with a proven track record of leadership, innovation, and problem-solving in challenging healthcare environments.
- Philosophy: Mrs. Mukasa is committed to providing high-quality midwifery education and developing future leaders in healthcare. She strives to foster an environment of excellence and teamwork in all her endeavors.
