This fully accredited, part-time, 8-week online program is guided by the Global and National Action Plan (GAP) on AMR, focusing on Antimicrobial Stewardship and One Health approach, which aims to achieve optimal health outcomes for people, animals, and ecosystems. Delivered by leading professionals, this course provides foundational expertise to manage, lead, educate, and challenge antimicrobial resistance across healthcare settings.

  Understanding AMR, its impact, and the global health crisis.

• Antimicrobial Stewardship
  Best practices for implementing stewardship programs to reduce AMR risks.

• Prevention and Control of AMR
  Strategies for healthcare facilities to prevent the spread of antimicrobial-resistant organisms.

• Individual Antibiotic Stewardship Duties
  A breakdown of how healthcare providers can optimize antibiotic use in their practices.

• AMR Program Leadership
  Strategic planning and leadership for effective AMR program management.

• Monitoring and Evaluation
  How to monitor and assess national and international efforts to combat AMR.

• AMR Control in Low-Income Settings
  Addressing the unique challenges faced in resource-limited environments.

Course Structure

Duration: 8 weeks, part-time

Delivery Mode:

• Online (First 3 weeks): Study through our E-learning platform, Monday-Friday.
• Fieldwork (4 weeks): Participants will work in appropriate workplace/field settings to apply learned knowledge.
• Final Week: Presentation of the project/fieldwork, online assessments, and certificate award.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:

• Be a registered nurse, midwife, clinical officer, medical officer, or part of another recognized healthcare professional body.
• Hold a diploma, bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification.
• Have at least two years of relevant experience in fields such as aquatic organism health management, microbiology, or infection control.
• Demonstrate proficiency in English.
• Be available for all days of the training.

The course is ideal for individuals responsible for or participating in AMR programs at the national, sub-national, or facility level, including:

• Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) professionals, AMR focal points, and healthcare workers involved in AMR activities.
• Those involved in nursing and medical pre-service education at various levels.
• Policy-makers, senior managers, and professionals responsible for developing or strengthening AMR programs.
• Stakeholders responsible for healthcare quality, patient safety, public health, infectious disease control, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and antimicrobial stewardship programs.

• Ugandan Participants: UGX 540,000
• International Participants: $200 USD

• Fees can be paid in two installments: 50% before the program begins and the remaining 50% halfway through the course.
